In our last ALT lunch & learn, we covered basic HPLC maintenance. This time, we make the move to gas chromatography. In Gas Chromatography Basics & Maintenance Tips, Dr. Kate Evans, principal at Longboard Scientific Consulting, will take you through the nuts and bolts of basic GC maintenance.

About the presenter

Katherine M. Evans, PhD C ASCP (CM) is the principal of Longboard Scientific Consulting. She earned a BS in chemistry from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, and a PhD in analytical chemistry, with an emphasis on polymer chemistry, from the University of Akron in Akron, OH.

Dr. Evans provides scientific consulting in the areas of drug analysis, including toxicology, pharmaceuticals, and cannabis. She is an expert in gas chromatography, HPLC, LC MS/MS, and SFC.

Previously, she has worked at various biotechnology start-ups in San Diego, where she led a team of drug discovery scientists, and was also involved in preclinical development through Phase II clinical trials, performing metabolite identification by Q-TOF LC/MS. Dr. Evans holds a patent in transdermal technology for a fentanyl reservoir patch, which was later transferred to a leading generic pharmaceutical company.

Prior to her career in the start-up environment, she was a consumables manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she supported several large clinical laboratories and helped develop methodologies to streamline LC/MS analysis and sample preparation.

Her passion outside of the laboratory is surfing. She also loves to spend time with family, her three dogs, riding her motorcycle, and in the outdoors.
