In-House Service Engineer

American Laboratory Trading, Inc. (ALT), the leading reseller of used lab equipment in North America, is currently looking for a Service Engineer for an immediate opening. If you're interested in a challenging career with a growing company, ALT is looking for you.  Successful candidate must demonstrate excellent technical and troubleshooting skills as they will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of multiple vendor lab instruments. 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and support of multiple vendor instruments.
  • To be successful in this role, individual must possess excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ensure that quality system procedures and Health & Safety standards are adhered to at all times.

 Minimum Qualifications 

  • Experience with lab equipment is helpful, but not required. 
  • HPLC, LC/MS, GC, GC/MS experience a bonus
  • Additional key product categories include: centrifuge, spectrophotometer, incubators/ovens, microplate readers,  PCR, and more.
  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology or 4+ years of experience in a related field is required.
  • 2 years advanced training in electronic, mechanical principles, or related experience. preferred. Refrigeration system certification extremely helpful.
  • Sound knowledge of PC operating systems and basic computer network skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective system level approach to problem solving.
  • Analytical mindset and strong drive to resolve open issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

ALT is located in East Lyme, Connecticut and we offer a casual work environment with a great team of people. Inside Sales Representative

If you're looking to get your foot in the door of the lucrative life sciences industry, we should talk. Ultimately, we’re looking for good candidates who are ready to make a commitment to our company and willing to give 110% on a daily basis. This is an exciting position backed by the strength of a 16 year industry leader with strong year-over-year growth and a long term vision. 

  • The selected candidate will call upon our existing client database as well as receive new customer leads daily -- Extensive inbound and outbound telephone outreach.
  • Generate sales quotes for clients.
  • Persistent customer follow-up.
  • Track and monitor sales pipeline through Salesforce.com.
  • Bring ideas to the table to help drive revenue.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Minimum 3 years inside sales with extensive telephone outreach required.
  • Excellent communication skills accompanied by a strong telephone voice.
  • Proven closer with track record to support it.
  • Persistent at customer follow-up.
  • Biotech or lab equipment understanding may be helpful, but certainly not required.  Actually, great sales experience and success in a different field is welcomed. 
  • Must be able to display your past success stories and track record of consistently achieving and/or exceeding quota.
  • General enthusiasm and passion for challenge.

Field Service Engineer - Boston/Cambridge

American Laboratory Trading, Inc. (ALT), the leading reseller of used lab equipment, is currently looking for a Field Service Engineer for an immediate opening. The successful candidate will be a problem solver and bring a 'can-do' attitude to the workplace on a daily basis.

Individual will be responsible for installation, customer training, repair and maintenance of multiple vendor instruments.  Successful individual will also be responsible for inventory management, service contract sales and administration. Additionally, the individual must demonstrate a strong focus on customer satisfaction as well as excellent technical and troubleshooting skill set. The position is located in the Southern New England area. 

Key Responsibilities
• Installation, maintenance and support of multiple vendor instruments that may include LC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, plate readers, centrifuges and liquid handling products
• Ability to deliver system level training at customer sites
• Provide field service reports on a daily basis
• Overnight travel may be required
• Work with Sales team in respect to leads and any issues which would impact customer satisfaction or customer loyalty
• Ensure that quality system procedures and Health & Safety standards are adhered to at all times
• To be successful in this role, individual must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the ability to perform effective system level troubleshooting

Minimum Qualifications
• Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology or 4+ years of experience in a related field is required.
• BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, engineering or other science related field is preferred
• 2 years advanced training in electronic and/or mechanical principles, or related experience preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of field or in-house analytical instrument service experience is a requirement
• Sound knowledge of PC operating systems and basic computer network skills
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Effective system level approach to problem solving
• Analytical mindset and strong drive to resolve open issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Valid Driver's License in good standing is mandatory
